The Africa Regional Office is set to host its 4th Senior Woman’s Elite Academy scheduled to take
place from the 21st – 25th of February 2014 at Sahara Park Willowmoore in Benoni, South

The RDM–CEO of ACA- commented that the previous Academies were a huge success as the
performances of the Ladies who attended it was evident at the recent T20 competition staged in
Tanzania 2013. The intake for the fourth Academy is based on the performances of the T20 Africa
Tournament played in Tanzania .It has a mixture of youth and experience .The Academy will
motivate the girls and woman cricketers within the continent and this will also encourage the
woman to institute mass participation of woman cricketers within their countries. These Ladies
must become the ambassadors for women’s cricket in Africa. The participants will come from
Botswana, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Uganda.

It is exciting times for Africa Cricket at Sahara Park Willowmoore which will be a buzz with a hype
of activities with regards to cricket academy.

The aim of this Academy is enhance their cricketing skills as well as motivate and enhance Woman’s
participation in cricket within Africa as this will then set a new foundation for Girls and Woman’s
with regards to their cricket development within the region. This 2014 intake will also have some of
the Senior players in Africa, who are also qualified coaches , come to the academy to assist with the
coaching so that they in turn will go back to their countries and roll out the same programme to
their counterparts and up an coming junior player. This will ensure that the skill level of the players
will be enhanced and the motivation to improve will ensure more quality cricket in Africa.

A total of 20 Candidates from all over Africa will attend the Academy and will be undergoing
extensive cricket coaching under the experience and expertise of Charlie Burke & Feizal Kimmie,
Development officer for the in Africa. Jolene Campher, an expert in Sport Vision & Wicket Keeping.

The theme for this year’s academy will be “Intensity and Options”

The 4-day Elite academy will consist of the following aspects:-
Fitness /vision incorporated into fielding sessions.
Sports Vision
Fielding Techniques – Pressure sessions incorporating all fielding skills and conditioning,
Wicket Keeping
Session on mental aspects of cricket- How to sustain Peak Performance
Video Analysis

Cricket Awareness - Approaches to playing 20/20 and one day cricket
Intensity and options, especially in 20/20 format – “What if”
2 Matches against Eastern’s Cricket Union Ladies team.

The Elite academy for woman will be a vigorous test of cricket skills and fitness on all participants.
