Mozambican Cricket Association with the National Commission for School Cricket and in collaboration with Ministry of Education took firm initiative on 1st of December 2007, International AIDS Day through a day long program with more than 150 school children, 30 school teachers and many cricket lovers in Escola Secundaria da Polana. The program was divided into 4 phases:
1st phase – Assembly of children and
a) Group lectures and discussion on subject AIDS and its destructive social nature
b) Object of this day and social obligation of students
c) How ICC has joined hand with UNAIDS & UNICEF to fight AIDS
2nd phase – Cricket related completion in groups i.e.
a) Hitting the Wicket
b) Catching competition
c) Hitting the ball to longest distance
3rd phase – Distribution of T-Shirts with anti-AIDS slogan to winners and thereafter lunch and soft drinks were served to everybody.
4th phase – A friendly match of 20/20
Whole program had lasted more than 7 hours and was highly appreciated by the parents and participating children, majority are from poor communities involved in grass-root cricket development through national program.
